Do I need to use headphones to enjoy BrainEv?
Yes, if possible.
Our exclusive 3P DEAP technology utilizes both the left and right speakers on your headphones to deliver the binaural entrainment part of the technology. Therefore, it's highly recommended that you use stereo headphones to maximize benefit from the system.
You won't need to shell out hundreds on a pair of headphones either. As long as you use decent headphones, which deliver the audio clearly and without distortion, the required audio entrainment frequencies will function just as well as they would on a more expensive set of headphones.

What are the BrainEv headphone requirements?
In order to completely benefit from our 3P DEAP brainwave entrainment process, stereo headphones are required.
A standard generic $10 to $20 headphone set should be adequate to broadcast the Brain Evolution System's technology with sufficient clarity.
Note that increased clarity of audio and minimal distortion will have an added effect on how well the BrainEv will work for you. Refer to the following comparison of minimum and optimal headphones. If you are not familiar with the terms below, consult your headphone manual or speak with a knowledgeable headphone retailer.
Minimum headphone quality:
- Stereo earbuds (in the ear) or stereo headphones (outside the ear)
- Frequency range: 40 Hz -20000 Hz
- 4' to 6' cord (to allow a comfortable range from your stereo equipment of choice)
Optimal headphone quality:
- Stereo earbuds (in the ear) or stereo headphones (outside the ear)
- Frequency range: 20 Hz -22000 Hz
- 4' to 6' + cord with a portable CD player (for superior audio quality and the freedom to listen wherever you choose)
Some notes on speaker types and signal processing (plus what to avoid):
Many headphones are manufactured with speakers that are engineered specifically to blast out heavy bass frequencies without distortion. Try to use headphones that are not attuned to a particular style of audio (whether deep bass or high frequencies).
Headphones, home stereo or media players may also feature enhancement that can disrupt the BrainEv's intended signals. For best results, always insure that no additional signal processing is being applied to the original source audio.
Keep your audio setup simple. If your audio configuration allows additional effects, make sure those options are disabled, before using the Brain Evolution System. In the event that any audio processing can not be disabled, make use of an audio device that is free of these extra features.
Audio processing technologies to avoid include, but are not limited to:
- Bass boosting technologies such as XBS, loosely titled as "Mega Bass," "eXteme Bass," and so on
- Audio effects like echo and chorus
- Reverb or environmental simulators like "hall", "cathedral", "room", etc. that change the overall sound characteristics of audio
- Noise cancelling headphones
In almost all cases, a standard simple set-up (like a portable CD player with some quality headphones) is all you need to get the best possible results with BrainEv.
Our suggestions are: be savvy, read your packaging, and put questions to informed retail staff that truly know their audio!

What if my hearing is less than perfect?
This issue was a prime consideration when creating this system.
The short answer: So long as you have some hearing ability in each ear, you will still be able to reap the benefits of the system.
Also, if your hearing is better in one ear than the other, you can always adjust the left/right stereo balance on your CD or audio player to compensate by boosting the volume on one side or the other.
As part of our 3 Point Dynamic Entrainment Audio Process, we apply much more than just binaural brainwave entrainment methods to the program (which is the protocol which neccessitates stereo headphones). There are still two other entrainment methods that the brain picks up on, outside of the binaural signals. This means that even if your your left/right hearing is not even, there are still powerful entrainment layers that maintain the program's effectiveness.
